CHOLERA KILLS 10 IN EBONYI
A cholera outbreak in Ndibokote village, Ezza Inyimagu, Izzi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, has claimed the lives of ten people.
It was discovered that the outbreak, which began in the area on Monday, also claimed the life of a nursing mother who left behind a 9-month-old infant.
Speaking at the Rapid Response at Iziogo Health Centre on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, acknowledged the tragedy and said that no fewer than ten people had died, while approximately 20 others were receiving treatment.
He described the Ebonyi State government’s attempts to minimise and contain the crisis and praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for allocating monies for the purchase of medical supplies to combat the outbreak.
The Commissioner stated that three treatment facilities had been created in the area, including the Iziogo Health Centre, Sudan Mission, Onuenyim, and Ndibokote communities.
