COURT IMPRISONS TWO FOR N1.1M FRAUD
Monsuru Dada, 64, and Idown Dada, 41, were each given a one-year prison sentence by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday for defrauding Emowe Godfrey out of N1.1 million.
The defendants entered not guilty pleas to the three counts of stealing, fraud, and acquiring money under false pretenses; their addresses were withheld.
Each of the convicted individuals was given a one-year prison term with the possibility of a N50,000 fine by Magistrate Mrs. O. O. Fadairo.
Additionally, Fadairo ordered that they return N1.1 million to the complainant.
Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, the prosecutor, had previously informed the court that the defendants had committed the crimes at Ajayi Egan, Onibukun area, Ota, between 2018 and June 24, 2024.
According to Adaraloye, the prisoners deceived Emowe Godfrey into selling him half of a piece of land in order to obtain N1.1 million from him.
