EX-MAN UNITED STAR AXEL TUANZEBE SUES CLUB FOR £1M OVER INJURY NEGLECT
Former Manchester United defender, Axel Tuanzebe, has filed a £1 million lawsuit against the club, accusing it of medical negligence in handling a back injury that he claims stalled his career.
According to reports, the 27-year-old player alleged that the Premier League club failed to properly diagnose and treat a spinal condition — known as “pars fractures” — during his time at Old Trafford, leaving him unable to play without restriction or discomfort.
Tuanzebe, who spent 17 years at Manchester United after joining its academy at the age of eight, made only 37 senior appearances before leaving in 2023. His career was repeatedly hampered by injuries, including hip, foot, and spinal issues, which limited his development.
The former England youth international’s legal documents reportedly claim that Manchester United’s medical team failed to refer him to a spinal specialist or allow him sufficient rest time despite clear MRI evidence of injury. He further alleged that the club’s actions caused his condition to worsen into a bilateral injury by July 2022, resulting in lasting pain and reduced career prospects.
Tuanzebe’s representatives are seeking damages exceeding £1 million for what they describe as “clinical negligence,” claiming that the mishandling of his medical condition negatively affected his long-term earnings and playing opportunities.
Since leaving Manchester United, Tuanzebe has joined Burnley FC, where he continues to play professionally.
Manchester United has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
