LAGOS GOVERNMENT TO BEGIN EIGHT-MONTH REHABILITATION ON LEKKI-AJAH CORRIDOR NOV 15
Agency Report

The Lagos State Government has announced that road rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor will commence on November 15, 2025, and last for eight months, ending on July 15, 2026.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
Osiyemi said preliminary works were already ongoing, noting that the project would be executed in two phases to reduce traffic disruptions along the busy corridor.
“Phase 1 covers the stretch from the Lekki first toll gate to the Lekki second toll gate, and work will be done in seven sections,” the commissioner explained.
“During this phase, one lane out of the two will be closed while motorists use the other. Once the first lane is completed, work will shift to the second lane. Motorists heading towards Lekki/Ajah will have through passage.”
He added that Phase 2 will cover the section from the Lekki second toll gate to the Ajah under-bridge, to be executed in four sections.
“Motorists from Ajah inward Lekki will be diverted to one lane while repairs are ongoing on the other lane. When the first lane is completed, work will move to the second. During this phase, motorists heading towards Ajah will have continuous movement,” Osiyemi said.
The commissioner appealed to motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic management directives, as some sections of the road would experience partial closures throughout the repair period.
He assured that the rehabilitation was part of the state government’s broader commitment to improving road quality, easing traffic congestion, and enhancing the driving experience across Lagos.
