The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration, coordination, and accountability among its parastatals, agencies, and government-owned companies to ensure efficient service delivery and impactful project implementation.

This position was emphasized during a One-Day Stakeholders’ Synergy Meeting organized by the Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

The meeting, themed “Promoting Projects in the State’s Parastatals/Agencies and Government-Owned Companies (Strategic Mechanism),” brought together top government officials, agency heads, and key stakeholders to deliberate on ways to improve coordination, transparency, and project performance across the state’s public institutions.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina, said the meeting was convened to foster synergy and promote best practices in project management, execution, and monitoring within Lagos State’s public service structure.

According to him, Lagos continues to experience rapid growth in population and infrastructure demand, which makes strategic coordination among implementing bodies imperative.

“Our Parastatals, Agencies, and Government-Owned Companies sit at the centre of this mandate, serving as operational machinery through which government programmes, interventions, and investments are executed,” Dr. Aina stated.

He added that the forum was designed to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and transparency while strengthening accountability in the implementation of government projects.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Hon. Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and for providing an enabling environment that fosters institutional efficiency and innovation in governance.

He explained that the synergy meeting reflected the administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda, which prioritizes effective governance through coordination and communication among MDAs and parastatals.

“Effective governance thrives on coordination, communication, and collaboration,” he said. “It is through these that we can eliminate duplication of efforts, reduce project delays, and maximize the value derived from public investments.”

Obanikoro further called for the institutionalization of a structured synergy mechanism to ensure harmonization of efforts and alignment of objectives among all stakeholders involved in project planning and monitoring.

The meeting featured paper presentations, interactive discussions, and experience-sharing sessions on effective project management, accountability, and inter-agency cooperation.

Speakers at the gathering expressed confidence that the deliberations and recommendations from the session would further strengthen institutional frameworks, promote transparency, and enhance overall project delivery across all sectors of the Lagos State Public Service.
