In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and titled “President Tinubu Celebrates Super Eagles’ 4–1 Victory Over Gabon, Says Nigeria’s March To The World Cup Continues,” the President lauded the team’s spirited performance, noting that it showcased the quintessential Nigerian character — one that “rises, adapts, and prevails.”

“The team played with courage, balance, and precision,” Tinubu said, emphasizing that football remains “one of Nigeria’s most potent symbols of unity and shared pride.”

According to him, the victory adds “fresh momentum to the national spirit” and strengthens the collective resolve to reach the World Cup finals.

The President commended the players, coaches, and technical and administrative crew for their unwavering commitment to the national cause, adding that their dedication had brought the nation well-deserved glory.

“This victory reflects the deep pool of talent that Nigeria continues to produce and the determination of the Super Eagles to reclaim their place among the continent’s most respected teams,” he noted.

Tinubu also praised Nigerian fans at home and in the diaspora for their steadfast support, acknowledging that their passion and loyalty often prove decisive in international fixtures.

He charged the Super Eagles to approach the remaining qualifiers with focus and discipline, reminding them that “every match presents an opportunity to show character and prove again that Nigeria’s ambition is firmly within reach.”

Reaffirming his confidence in the team, the President added: “This is the true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you!”
