SUPER EAGLES RELEASE STARTING XI FOR CRUCIAL WORLD CUP PLAYOFF FINAL AGAINST DR CONGO

The Super Eagles have unveiled their starting lineup for tonight’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rabat, Morocco.

The high-stakes clash, scheduled for 8 p.m. Nigerian time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, will determine which team advances to next March’s intercontinental playoff the final hurdle to securing a place at the expanded 48-team World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Nigeria booked their spot in the final after a dramatic 4–1 extra-time victory over Gabon in Thursday’s semi-final at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium. Akor Adams put the Eagles ahead in the 78th minute before Mario Lemina equalised for Gabon in the 89th minute to force extra time.

The Super Eagles took control in the additional period, with Victor Osimhen scoring twice in the 93rd and 101st minutes, while Chidera Ejuke sealed the win with a 105th-minute strike.

Earlier on Thursday, DR Congo secured their place in the final with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Cameroon at the Al Barid Stadium. Captain Chancel Mbemba scored the dramatic stoppage-time winner after a tense encounter played under heavy rainfall.

Both teams now face a must-win showdown as they battle for a place in the intercontinental playoff and a chance to compete on football’s biggest stage in 2026.
