2027: THEY WANT JONATHAN TO SEAL THEIR POLITICAL FATE — SHEHU SANI BLASTS PDP FACTION

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticised a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its move to draft former President Goodluck Jonathan into the 2027 presidential race.

In a post shared on his verified X handle on Monday, Sani described the move as coming too late.

He was reacting to reports that a faction of the PDP had adopted Jonathan as its preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to the former lawmaker, those now championing Jonathan’s candidacy failed to support him when the party was in a much stronger position.

Sani argued that the PDP had a far better chance of presenting a formidable challenge during the 2023 general election.

“If they truly wanted Jonathan, they should have fielded him in 2023 when the party was still relatively strong and in good shape.

“They only want him now to help carry the coffin,” he said.

He further noted that the latest push appeared less about offering Jonathan a genuine pathway back to power and more about leveraging his political influence to breathe life into a struggling platform.
