2027: BALA MOHAMMED DENIES PLAN TO EMERGE AS JONATHAN’S RUNNING MATE

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed speculations linking him to a planned defection from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to emerge as the running mate of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 general election.
Mohammed refuted the claims, insisting that his political ambition remains focused on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in 2027 under the platform of the APM.
The clarification follows reports circulating on social media suggesting that he was being considered as Jonathan’s vice-presidential candidate under a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
the media recalls that the speculation gained momentum after a PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki on Saturday announced Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Jonathan was subsequently ratified as the faction’s flag bearer during a special national convention held in Abuja.
Although the former president was absent from the event, his certificate of return was received on his behalf by Fred Agbedi.
Reacting to the reports, Governor Mohammed urged the public to disregard the claims, describing them as false and misleading.
“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
“Any reports suggesting a different political direction should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” the governor stated.
