Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong, has clinched his first major trophy with Greece-based club PAOK Thessaloniki following their victory against Aris on Sunday night.

After a three-year stint with Watford FC, including a loan spell at Salernitana, Troost-Ekong joined PAOK FC for a fee of approximately ā‚¬1 million.

Despite limited appearancesā€”just 10 in the domestic Super League 1ā€”the former KAA Gent defender has been surrounded by success in 2024.

The 30-year-oldā€™s impressive year began with winning a silver medal and the player of the tournament award at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Following this, the former Watford defender has now added to his accolades with his first major club trophy as a football player at PAOK.

In a decisive match at Harilaou Stadium, PAOK secured a 2-1 victory over Aris, finishing the league season with 80 points, two points ahead of AEK Athens. This triumph draws PAOKā€™s fourth Super League 1 title.

Recently returning to full training after surgery following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February, Troost-Ekong is set to rejoin the Super Eagles for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Ahead of that, he is set to host a charity match in Akwa Ibom as a means of giving back to his community with Troost-Ekong Foundation.
