CRIME: OGUN POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, EXHUME VICTIM’S BODY
Five other gang members are still at large, but two suspected kidnappers who are allegedly responsible for several kidnappings and killings in Ijebu Igbo and its surroundings in the state’s Ijebu North Local Government Area have been apprehended by Ogun State police authorities.
Abiodun Alamutu, the state commissioner of police, stated that the seven-member kidnapping group was accountable for the abduction and subsequent death of a 71-year-old father of five children as well as a 37-year-old man who was interred in shallow graves at two distinct places.
The Commissioner of Police escorted men, policemen, and health officials to the bushes where their victims were interred in shallow graves and gave communities the assurance that the law’s great reach would eventually catch up with the gang members who were on the run.
“These two suspects have confirmed being the culprits while their other partners are presently on the run. They are here to lead us to the shallow grave where the kidnapped victims were buried,” the CP said.
“We think it is better to follow that sequence, let us confirm that it is actually a shallow grave where the victims were buried.
“This is a seven-man gang. The important thing is that they have admitted to the commission of the offence and their cohorts are on the run.”
The Ogun State Police Command is working feverishly, according to the CP, to capture any more gang members who are escaping.
In addition, he cautioned criminals to avoid the state by restating to Ogun citizens the police’s commitment to protecting their lives and property.
