House of Reps Begs For Olisa Metuh to Be Granted Access To Medical Attention Overseas.
House of Representatives has urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Federal high court Abuja to grant Olisa Metu access to medical attention overseas.
The house mandated its committee on Justice and human Right to follow up and report back to the house within two weeks.
This followed a motion sponsored by Hon. Chris Azubogu on Tuesday during Plenary session.
Leading debate on the motion, Hon. Azubogu, stated that everyone has the right to his life and should not be deprived intentionally as cited in section 33 of the 1999 constitution.
House of Reps Correspondent Linda Ike reports that the lawmaker expressed worries that Olisa Metu whose health keeps deteriorating is still on trial and not yet convicted, lamenting that he appeared yesterday, 5th of February, in court on a stretcher from the National hospital on order of the court against medical recommendation.
He noted that further denial for him to receive appropriate medical attention overseas could cause him his life or permanent paralysis.
Track – Up-
Hon. Chris Azubogu,
PDP, Anambra State.
Some lawmakers who contributed to the motion spoke in favour of the motion.
Track-up-
Hon. Bode Ayorinde,

Hon. Edward Pwarjok.

The house however, urged that Olisa Metu be granted a leave to obtain treatment for a period of time and come back to continue with his trial since he is already on bail and has a surety noting that the same court has granted some persons on similar charges leave to travel overseas for medical attention but denied the request of Metu.
