BY JEN NOMAMIUKOR
Ten- time Africa women’s champions, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, following their victorious return from Morocco, where they secured their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) championship.
The Falcons arrived at 2:26 PM on a private flight and was greeted by enthusiastic supporters and prominent government dignitaries, including the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hanatu Musawa; and the Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
The team will parade the WAFCON trophy in an open-top bus across the street of Abuja enroute to the Presidential Villa for a reception with President Bola Tinubu.
Nigeria beat host Morocco 3-2 in Rabah to clinch the trophy.
The victory maintains Nigeria’s perfect record in WAFCON finals — 10 wins in 10 appearances — and further cements their legacy as the most successful women’s national team in Africa.
