The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Augustina Mowari for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during a domestic dispute in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred on Sunday following a heated argument over infidelity allegations. The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim in the leg with a pair of scissors during the altercation.
“There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with scissors. He later died in the hospital,” the police spokesperson said. “The suspect is in our custody, and the case will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.”
Sources familiar with the couple revealed that the lovers had been cohabiting in a one-room apartment and had frequent quarrels, mostly stemming from trust issues and accusations of cheating.
“The lady accused Michael of having an affair, which led to a violent confrontation. She stabbed him in the leg,” a source explained.
Ikuedowoni was initially taken to a nearby hospital, treated, and discharged. However, his condition reportedly worsened at home as his leg became swollen. He was rushed back to the hospital on Sunday night, where he died despite medical efforts.
Police have launched a full investigation, and the suspect remains in custody pending arraignment.
