The Zamfara State Government has resumed the payment of state allowances to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, months after suspending the scheme.

Governor Dauda Lawal made the announcement on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B, Stream 1 corps members held in Gusau. Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima, the governor also disclosed that special allowances have been approved for corps medical personnel serving across the state.

Lawal described the development as part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and morale of corps members, assuring them of their safety and wellbeing throughout the service year.

“The safety and welfare of every corps member serving in Zamfara is paramount to my administration,” he said, urging corps members to serve with integrity and make a positive impact in their host communities.

He further pledged that his government would continue to provide a conducive environment for the NYSC, its management, and staff to effectively carry out their duties.

In his remarks, the Zamfara State NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan, lauded the state government for reinstating the allowances, saying it would boost the effectiveness and commitment of corps members in the state.

Lawan said the three-week orientation programme would expose corps members to cultural integration, leadership training, physical fitness, and skills acquisition workshops, all geared toward preparing them for the service year ahead.

He encouraged the corps members to take the orientation seriously for their personal growth and the overall success of their national assignment.

Meanwhile, a total of 554 corps members took the oath of allegiance during the ceremony, administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, who was represented by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the State High Court, A’ishatu Jibrin.
