Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have each been fined €5,000 by UEFA for breaching post-match anti-doping procedures following their Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan.
In a statement on Friday, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body said the players failed to report immediately to the doping control station at San Siro, as required by competition rules.
According to Marca and AS, the infraction was purely procedural and did not involve failing a drug test.
Head coach Hansi Flick and assistant Marcus Sorg were also sanctioned, receiving €20,000 fines and one-match suspensions for misconduct and violating UEFA’s general principles of conduct. The governing body said both acted improperly during and after the match.
Barcelona, as a club, was fined €7,750 — €5,250 for objects thrown onto the pitch and €2,500 for fireworks set off by fans during the semi-final.
UEFA confirmed that the sanctions take immediate effect, with suspensions to be served in the club’s next European fixture.
