IMO GOVT RAISES MINIMUM WAGE TO N104,000, APPROVES N16BN FOR PENSION GRATUITIES

The Imo State Government has approved an increase in the minimum wage from ₦70,000 to ₦104,000 in what it described as a decisive step to improve workers’ welfare.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made the announcement during a meeting with labour leaders at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

The governor also revealed the approval of ₦16 billion for the immediate payment of all outstanding gratuities owed to pensioners in the state.

Labour leaders welcomed the gesture with solidarity songs, describing it as a “historic step” toward improving the lives of workers and retirees.

Those present at the meeting included the state NLC Chairman, Uche Chigemezu; the TUC Chairman, Uchenna Ibe; the NUP Chairman, Josiah Ugochukwu; and the NMA Chairman, Barth Echeta.
