FIRE GUTS SIX ROOMS IN RESIDENTIAL PREMISES IN IBADAN

No fewer than six chambers within a private residential structure were devastated by flames during the early hours of Tuesday at Akinsoji Zone, Ogbere Moradeyo, Oremeji Area of Ibadan.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, affirmed this in a statement disseminated to the news media on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Akinwande indicated that the agency’s personnel received an urgent communication at precisely 5:55 a.m. from an individual named Mr. Kayode, prompting the immediate deployment of fire crews led by CFS Adesina Olusoji to the location.
“On getting to the scene of the fire incident, it was a private residential building of six rooms engulfed by fire and our officers swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings,” he remarked.
The chairman reported that the blaze was extinguished collaboratively by the Oyo State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command.

Akinwande noted that while no fatalities were recorded, the building sustained significant damage due to the fire.
He explained that the origin of the fire was traced to the careless disposal of a cigarette butt by one of the residents, which ignited nearby flammable materials and ignited the structure.
The chairman urged all households in the state to equip their premises with fire extinguishers to effectively combat fires as they arise.
