The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has emphasized to Nigerian citizens that visa application fees are neither refundable nor transferable.

In a declaration aimed at addressing the rising apprehensions among Nigerians regarding the steep expenses associated with U. S. visa applications, the Mission recognized the exasperation experienced by numerous applicants whose submissions are rejected after incurring substantial costs.

“We hear your concerns regarding U.S. visa application fees. Like most countries, U.S. visa fees cover the cost of processing the application, regardless of the outcome. While fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, each application is reviewed thoroughly and fairly. For best results, prepare your application carefully and use the resources on our website,” the statement conveyed.

It is worth noting that there have been grievances expressed on social media by Nigerians who characterize the process as financially burdensome, especially when their applications are declined without the possibility of reusing their payments.

The clarification from the Mission underscored that these fees are designed to defray administrative expenses linked to processing applications, rather than to ensure visa approval.

The Mission additionally urged prospective travelers to diligently prepare their submissions, adhere to all application protocols, and take advantage of the complimentary resources offered on its official website to enhance their likelihood of a favorable outcome.
