The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has launched intensified patrols around boarding schools across the state.

Commander Adetunji Adeleye announced the initiative on Tuesday in Akure while presenting 16 suspects arrested for various offenses.

Adeleye stated that comprehensive surveillance has been deployed to all boarding schools, noting that the move follows recent concerns over security breaches and rising cases of kidnapping.

“In the past week, we have visited numerous schools and placed those with boarding facilities under strict surveillance,” he said.

“Particular attention has been given to schools in border communities and on the outskirts of major towns.

“We have also intensified our 24-hour Ember Month patrols, especially along state borders, to strengthen security.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the border patrol initiative, codenamed Operation Le Won Jade, began on Nov. 6, focusing on improving security across border towns.

According to Adeleye, the operation has helped to push out miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers hiding in forested areas.

He added, “Our routine 24-hour patrols within the metropolis are still in full force and have continued to produce significant results.

“We recorded 34 arrests in the past week, and today, we are presenting 16 of those suspects.”

“I want to assure the people of Ondo State that security agencies are working diligently to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state,” he said.
