Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Sunday received the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III, during the traditional Sallah homage at the Government House.

The visit, an age-long practice in the state, provided an opportunity for the monarch to felicitate with the governor and residents on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while reinforcing the relationship between the traditional institution and government.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir praised the governor’s leadership, noting that Gombe State has experienced significant transformation under his administration.

“I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Since the creation of the state, we have never witnessed this level of development until your administration,” the monarch said.

He added that the governor had not only fulfilled his initial promises but exceeded expectations, citing achievements across sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy, and economic development. The Emir also commended Yahaya’s inclusive governance style and efforts in promoting peace and unity, particularly through collaboration with traditional institutions.

The monarch highlighted key projects, including the upgraded Government House, airport development, the Three-Arms Zone, and the Shehu Abubakar District, describing them as landmarks that have enhanced the state’s profile and positioned Gombe as an emerging tourism hub.

In his response, Governor Yahaya expressed appreciation for the Emir’s continued support, prayers, and guidance, describing the relationship between his administration and the Gombe Emirate Council as vital to the state’s progress.

“Our relationship with the traditional institution has been cordial and productive. I deeply value the counsel and cooperation we have continued to receive, which have contributed to the peace and development of our state,” he said.

Reflecting on his seven years in office, the governor stated that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development, with measurable progress recorded in key sectors including agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

He reiterated his commitment to delivering lasting legacies that would benefit future generations and assured residents that security remains a top priority.

The governor also urged citizens to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence demonstrated during the Ramadan period.
