The Nigeria women’s national cricket team continued their dominant run at the Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s Invitational T20I tournament with a commanding 136-run victory over Ghana women’s national cricket team at the Tafawa Balewa Square Oval in Lagos on Sunday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, the hosts posted an impressive total of 159 for four in their 20 overs, built on disciplined batting and contributions across the lineup.

Captain Lucky Piety gave Nigeria a solid start with 23 off 17 balls before being dismissed by Grace Essuon. Christable Chukwuonye top-scored with 43 off 27 balls, while Kehinde Amusa added 36 runs to bolster the innings.

Nigeria also benefited from extras, particularly wides, as Ghana’s bowlers struggled for consistency.

In reply, Ghana faltered under pressure, losing early wickets and failing to build meaningful partnerships. Nigeria’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout, steadily increasing the required run rate and putting the game beyond reach.

Peace Usen delivered another standout performance, claiming three wickets for just nine runs in four overs to earn the Player of the Match award for the second consecutive game.

Debutants Henrietta Mbam and Favour Effiong also impressed, taking three and two wickets respectively.

The victory strengthens Nigeria’s position in the round-robin tournament, following their opening win against Zimbabwe U-19.

For Ghana, the defeat marks their third loss in the competition, after earlier setbacks against Rwanda and South Africa U-19.
