POLICE ARREST SUSPECT AS ABDUCTED OSUN HERDSMAN REGAINS FREEDOM

One suspect has been arrested in connection with the abduction of a Fulani herdsman, Yahaya Sulaiman, who was kidnapped in Ijebu Jesa.
The victim has reportedly regained freedom after the payment of an undisclosed ransom.
Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that gunmen abducted Sulaiman on Monday night and initially demanded ₦70 million for his release.
A resident of Ijebu Jesa, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the incident occurred around 9 p.m. and suggested that the victim may have been specifically targeted by the kidnappers.
According to the source, the armed men reportedly asked residents in the area about Sulaiman’s whereabouts before identifying and abducting him to an unknown destination.
Providing an update on the development, a security source in the community said Sulaiman was released on Thursday after the abductors allegedly collected a substantial ransom payment.
“He was released on Thursday. They collected a huge amount of money as ransom before they released him. One of the perpetrators was arrested,” the source said.
The source further disclosed that firearms and ammunition were allegedly recovered from the arrested suspect, who has since been transferred to Osogbo for further investigation.
“They found firearms and ammunition on him. He has been taken to Osogbo. He is with the police in Osogbo. Sulaiman was immediately taken to the hospital when he was freed,” the source added.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that Sulaiman was rescued by police operatives.
Ojelabi also confirmed that a suspect arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody as investigations continue.
