Muhammadu Yahaya has been cleared by the Senatorial Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress to contest in the forthcoming elections.

The screening exercise took place on Friday at Plateau House in Abuja.

According to reports, Governor Yahaya recently emerged as the consensus candidate of the APC for the Gombe North Senatorial District seat.

The exercise was conducted by the APC Senatorial Screening Committee chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.

Details of the screening were contained in a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli.

The statement noted that the exercise also involved other serving governors seeking reelection or aspiring to contest senatorial seats under the APC platform.

Addressing the aspirants during the screening, Yilwatda commended the governors for what he described as their contributions to governance and leadership within the party.

“As a party, we will continue to support all our sitting governors. There is no need subjecting you to rigorous screening again, having previously undergone similar processes and served creditably in office,” he said.

He further stated that Governor Yahaya and the other aspirants had fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements needed to contest in the elections.

“Having satisfied all the necessary requirements, you are hereby requested to take a bow and go,” Yilwatda added.

The clearance officially paves the way for Governor Yahaya to participate in the APC senatorial race for Gombe North ahead of the forthcoming elections.
