The West African Examinations Council has announced the commencement of registration for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, Second Series.
In a statement shared on its official X platform on Friday, WAEC disclosed that registration for the examination began on Sunday, May 4, 2026, and will close on Thursday, July 31, 2026.
The examination body also revealed that the 2026 private examination will be conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Examination (CBE).
According to WAEC, the registration fee for the examination has been fixed at ₦37,000.
Candidates were advised to visit the nearest WAEC office within their state to verify available examination towns before proceeding with registration.
The council encouraged intending candidates to complete their registration early in order to avoid last-minute delays and to familiarise themselves with the computer-based examination format.
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, popularly known as the private WASSCE, is organised annually for individuals who are not enrolled in regular secondary schools, enabling them to independently sit for the examination and obtain the certificate.
