POLICE RESCUE ABDUCTED 10-DAY-OLD BABY IN ZAMFARA, ARREST SUSPECT

The Zamfara State Police Command has recovered a 10-day-old baby allegedly stolen from General Hospital Kaura-Namoda in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, said the baby was recovered after a complaint was lodged at the Kaura-Namoda Divisional Police Station three days earlier regarding the alleged abduction.
According to him, detectives handling the case invited and questioned hospital personnel who were on duty when the incident occurred as part of the ongoing investigation.
“Subsequently, on May 15, 2026, at about 08:35hrs, the stolen infant was successfully recovered at a nearby hamlet (name withheld),” the statement added.
The baby was rescued unharmed and has been reunited with the biological parents.
The statement added, “One suspect, aged 27, whose identity is being withheld, is currently in police custody and assisting investigators in connection with the case.”
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Bello, praised members of the public for their cooperation and prompt information, noting that their support played a key role in the successful recovery of the infant.
Yazid Abubakar reiterated the Command’s resolve to combat all forms of criminal activity across the state, adding that further developments would be made public as investigations progress.
