Oyo State Government Settles Salary Issues with Labour

The Oyo State Government said it had resolved all agitations with labour over the issue of unpaid salaries in the state.
Speaking through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Yomi Layinka, Governor Ajimobi said robust interactions have taken place resulting in a mutually acceptable Memorandum of Understanding on how payments of outstanding salaries, arrears and pensions would be paid.
Speaking on the payment of salaries, Layinka said that the agreement of the MOU is already being implemented as workers have begun receiving their salaries.
The government implored the TUC to get back to the umbrella body and resolve whatever differences they have so as not to further pull the state into avoidable crisis.
The TUC and some members of joint negotiating council of Oyo State Public Service had earlier addressed the press dissociating themselves from the signed MOU with labour.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) or the TUC to react were unsuccessful as the NLC secretariat was deserted while the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) executive committee were not available for comments.
It would be recalled that the NLC secretariat was a bee hive of activities where workers were holding nearly daily congresses during the 7 day strike action.
All workers under the Oyo State Government have since resumed their normal duties after the signing of the MO
