Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the payment of the first phase of the medical expenses of veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, following her appeal for financial assistance to undergo three urgent surgeries.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, disclosed the intervention in a post on X on Tuesday.

Justice said Otti had approved the payment of part of Nwosu’s medical bills but noted that the intervention did not cover the actress’s entire treatment expenses.

He consequently appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting the actress as she seeks to raise funds for her treatment.

Justice also expressed appreciation to the governor on behalf of members of the creative industry for responding to Nwosu’s situation.

Earlier, the 62-year-old actress had appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance, seeking to raise ₦30 million to undergo three urgent surgeries.

Nwosu revealed that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and could no longer cope with the cost of her treatment.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, the actress appealed to her fans, family members and colleagues not to abandon her during her health crisis.

She said she needed urgent assistance and urged well-wishers who wished to support her treatment to contact her management.

Nwosu, a veteran actress known for her roles in Nollywood productions, has received support from members of the public and the entertainment industry following her appeal.
