The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects who had been on its wanted list since last year, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Mubi.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, revealing that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of Operation Sanity over their alleged involvement in a recent robbery attack.
According to the statement, the suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, alias “Baban Yambiyu,” were arrested in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi.
Nguroje explained that the suspects, alongside two accomplices who are currently on the run, allegedly attacked a resident, Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and carted away cash and other valuables.
He said police operatives attached to Mubi South and Mubi North Divisions tracked and arrested the suspects through sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance operations.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that several exhibits were recovered during the operation, including stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used in carrying out the robbery.
While investigations continue, the command said efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining suspects still at large and ensure they are brought to justice.
The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements and maintaining peace, safety, and security across the state.
