ADC ACCUSES TINUBU OF GOVERNING NIGERIA WITH IMPUNITY

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of governing Nigeria with impunity, alleging that the executive has weakened democratic institutions with the backing of the National Assembly.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the remarks during an interview on Symfoni TV, where he claimed the Tinubu-led government had repeatedly overstepped constitutional limits.
According to Abdullahi, the principle of checks and balances has been eroded, alleging that the executive, legislature and judiciary no longer function independently but instead act in alignment with the President’s interests.
He also criticised the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing it of failing to hold the executive accountable.
Abdullahi further alleged that the administration has failed to fully implement national budgets despite their legal status once signed into law, while claiming the government was simultaneously operating multiple budgets.
He referenced reports alleging ₦8.8 trillion in unbudgeted expenditure, arguing that if proven, such actions would amount to a serious violation of the law.
The ADC spokesman also accused the government of repeatedly disobeying court orders and acting contrary to Nigeria’s laws without facing consequences.
He further alleged that the Tinubu administration has consistently undermined opposition political parties through legal and political actions, claiming such actions threaten Nigeria’s democratic principles and violate the spirit of the Constitution.
