ADEBUTU UNVEILS ‘ITURA DE’ AGENDA, VOWS TO RESTORE OGUN LG AUTONOMY

The 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has unveiled his economic and social development blueprint, tagged “ITURA DE,” with promises to restore local government autonomy, improve workers’ welfare and stimulate economic growth across the state.
Adebutu unveiled the agenda on Wednesday at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta during the official flag-off of the PDP campaign for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
Speaking during the event, the former federal lawmaker presented his campaign address, titled “A Call to Liberation,” saying the proposed agenda was designed to address poverty, unemployment, insecurity and what he described as poor governance in the state.

Adebutu described the PDP as “the undisputed fortress of the masses,” saying the party was committed to delivering meaningful and tangible dividends of democracy to residents.
He said the PDP administration between 2003 and 2011 recorded significant achievements in grassroots development through functional local governments, regular payment of workers’ salaries, pensions and gratuities, as well as the remittance of cooperative contributions.
However, Adebutu described the years since 2011 as a period of prolonged hardship and alleged neglect, attributing the situation to what he called maladministration and corruption.
He pledged that an administration led by him would reverse the trend through the implementation of the ITURA DE agenda, which he described as the foundation of his proposed government.
According to him, the programme would concentrate on seven major areas, including security and law enforcement; local government financial autonomy and workers’ welfare; urban and regional development, physical planning and transportation; and the development of rural and border communities.
Other priority areas, he said, would include agricultural, economic and industrial development; women, youth and sports development; as well as education, healthcare and other social services.
Adebutu added that the agenda would be driven by five broad programmes focusing on strategic infrastructure, entrepreneurship, economic resilience, functional communities, and accountability and transparency in governance.
On security, the PDP candidate promised to protect farms, highways and communities from criminal activities while guaranteeing residents the freedom to associate politically without intimidation.
He also pledged to grant local government councils greater financial and administrative independence, saying the move would create additional centres of development across the state.
Adebutu further promised to prioritise the welfare of civil servants and pensioners, particularly those whose retirement benefits he claimed had been withheld.
He said his administration would ensure the immediate payment of outstanding gratuities and review the state’s Contributory Pension Scheme.
The candidate also promised to strengthen agriculture and vocational training as part of efforts to empower young people and create wealth.
He said farmers would have access to zero-interest loans and interventions from the Bank of Industry at single-digit interest rates, while improved rural infrastructure would support agricultural production and economic development.
Adebutu also pledged to review what he described as burdensome double taxation affecting traders, small business owners and other entrepreneurs.
He said his administration would restructure government processes, promote ease of doing business and remove policies that discourage investment and business creation.
In his closing remarks, Adebutu expressed his longstanding connection to Ogun State, saying his investments, businesses and contributions to job creation were rooted in the state.
He pledged to protect the state’s heritage and pursue policies aimed at improving the living conditions and economic prospects of its residents if elected governor in 2027.
