The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has appealed to the League of Imams to support his administration’s efforts in promoting security, environmental sanitation and youth development across the council area.

The appeal was made during the League’s monthly prayer meeting held at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat, where special prayers were offered for peace, security, stability and sustained development in Ikeja and its surrounding communities.

Addressing the Islamic leaders, AKOD outlined his administration’s initiatives to strengthen security, improve environmental cleanliness and combat youth restiveness and drug abuse. He described Ikeja as a strategic centre in Lagos State, hosting key government institutions, Computer Village and both local and international airports, stressing the need for collective vigilance to safeguard lives and property.

The chairman also expressed concern over indiscriminate waste disposal by some residents, describing environmental sanitation as a shared responsibility. He said enforcement against environmental offenders would continue while assuring residents that the government remains committed to addressing waste management challenges across the area.

Speaking on behalf of the League of Imams, the Chief Imam of Ikeja Central Mosque, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adeola Ilo, commended AKOD for his commitment to improving residents’ welfare and pledged the support of the Islamic leaders in sensitising youths against drug abuse and other social vices.

He also offered prayers for the chairman’s continued success and impactful leadership.
