APC DENIES WITHDRAWING TINUBU’S 2027 CAMPAIGN COUNCIL LIST

The All Progressives Congress has denied reports that it withdrew its list of members appointed to the 2027 presidential campaign council for review.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed the reports as rumours, stressing that any changes to the council would be officially communicated.
Morka made the clarification while speaking with TheCable on Tuesday morning in response to reports that the APC had withdrawn the list following concerns over the inclusion of some individuals and the omission of others.
He said the reports were not credible, adding that the party would make any necessary adjustments public through the appropriate channels.

The APC unveiled its 2027 presidential campaign council on Saturday, naming President Bola Tinubu as chairman, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima and National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda were appointed vice-chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed secretary.
The composition of the council has, however, attracted criticism, particularly over the inclusion of some serving government officials and individuals facing corruption allegations.
Among those listed are former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu; former Chairperson of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund board, Ngozi Olejeme; Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman, Zacch Adedeji; and Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Tanimu Yakubu.
Reports on Monday claimed that the party was reviewing the list over concerns about some appointments and the exclusion of prominent party members.
However, Morka said he was not in a position to address complaints from party members concerning those left out of the council.
The development has also drawn criticism from opposition figures, including former New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who questioned the inclusion of senior public officials in the campaign structure.
Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, also threatened legal action over Adedeji’s appointment to the council.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Christopher Musa and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, who were both listed as members, described their appointments as a call to greater service and assured Nigerians that security operations and reforms would continue.
