BAUCHI POLICE ARREST 60-YEAR-OLD MAN FOR ALLEGED KIDNAPPING OF 16-YEAR-OLD BOY

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old boy, Usman Dauda, in Zigau Village, Shira Local Government Area of the state.

The command also said the teenager was rescued unhurt during a swift police operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to Habib, the incident occurred after the Yana Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call at about 10pm on September 28, 2026, from the victim’s 50-year-old father, who reported that his son had allegedly been abducted from Misau town and taken to Bangala Village.

He said Abubakar was allegedly attempting to take the teenager to Kano for reasons that had yet to be established.

“Upon receipt of the report, detectives swiftly mobilised to the scene, successfully rescued the victim unhurt and arrested the suspect,” Habib said.

The PPRO added that the victim was subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Yana, for medical examination.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly confessed to unlawfully confining the teenager in his room for a day without adequate feeding.

In a separate operation, the police arrested five suspects at Doya Quarters, Bauchi, for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, mischief and theft.

Habib said the suspects were arrested at about 4:30pm on September 28 after they allegedly invaded an incomplete building at the quarters and removed windows and glass before the arrival of the owner.

He said police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, promptly moved to the area and arrested all five suspects, while the allegedly stolen items were recovered as exhibits.

The PPRO further disclosed that at about 5:30am on the same day, the ‘A’ Division received information that some hoodlums had been sighted carrying suspected stolen items concealed in a black bag.

According to him, police operatives immediately mobilised and arrested the suspects.

“Preliminary investigation confirmed the items to be stolen,” he said.

Habib added that at about noon, the owners of the recovered items arrived at the division with proof of ownership and identified them for collection.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
