BAUCHI POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED RAILWAY VANDAL, RECOVER VANDALISED RAILWAY SLIPPERS

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected railway vandal, Abubakar Sanusi, and recovered a consignment of vandalised railway slippers in the Doya Quarters area of Bauchi metropolis.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
Habib said the operation followed credible intelligence received on August 17, 2026, at about 12:30am concerning the alleged vandalisation of railway infrastructure in the state capital.
According to him, operatives of the ‘A’ Division Township acted on the intelligence and traced the stolen railway materials to a residential building in Doya Quarters.
He said the entire consignment of vandalised railway slippers was recovered and evacuated to the police station.

The operation, he added, was concluded at about 3:30am on August 18 with the arrest of Sanusi in connection with the alleged crime.
The police spokesperson said investigation was ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate allegedly involved in the vandalisation of railway infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.
Aliyu warned that anyone found vandalising or destroying government property would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station to support efforts to protect national infrastructure.
