BEDLAM ENSUES AS TRAFFICK GRIDLOCK TRAPS TRAVELLERS ON ABUJA-KANO HIGHWAY

Traffic is acting really badly because of road repairs and heavy rain, which has made many people very stressed. Thousands of drivers and people traveling on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway are getting frustrated because of the long delays, especially as they are heading to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Because the traffic problems have been going on all week, David Umahi, the minister of works, told the contractors to quickly fix and open up all the parts of the road that are safe to use.
The minister issued the directive through a statement issued by Francis Nwaze, his media aide.
Security agencies have been deployed in strategic points along the corridor to ensure safety and maintain order.
Umahi also confirmed that an earlier accident that worsened traffic had been cleared.
The Abuja-Kaduna highway is one of Nigeria’s busiest routes, linking the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to northern states.
Many people who travel by public transport have said their trips were very tiring and took much longer than usual because of the ongoing construction work and the busy holiday season.
