The NAF spokesman also explained that after completing the mission, the pilot, while returning to base, exercised professional discretion to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield.
He said the decision was in line with established operational and aviation safety procedures following combat missions, adding that the helicopter subsequently returned to base.
Ejodame reiterated the NAF’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, providing close air support to ground troops and protecting communities through coordinated air and land operations.
He said the successful operation demonstrated the NAF’s determination to restrict the activities of criminal groups and support efforts to restore peace and security in affected communities.
