Operatives of the Borno State Police Command have arrested a suspect, Umar Lawan, in connection with a stolen vehicle linked to an armed robbery incident in Ogun State.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the arrest followed credible information from the Car Dealers Association in Maiduguri regarding a suspicious white Toyota vehicle with registration number SMK 975 JY (Lagos).

According to him, Lawan, who resides in Shehuri South, Maiduguri, brought the vehicle to a local car market but failed to provide a satisfactory explanation of its ownership.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle documents bore the name of Joseph Nnoma Mary of No. 3 Jegede Street, Matogun, Ogun State, prompting suspicion. Lawan reportedly claimed that the vehicle was handed to him in Lagos by one Karama Bulama Mohammed, who is now at large, for delivery to Maiduguri.
“Subsequent investigation confirmed that the car was stolen during an armed robbery incident in Ogun State. Arrests have been made in connection with the case, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” the statement read.
ASP Daso reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the Police.
