Got it — here’s the rephrased story in normal sentence case:
Violent crime appears to have resurfaced in Anambra State after unknown gunmen attacked operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, killing at least two officers.
The state had enjoyed months of relative calm following intensified security operations against criminal elements, particularly armed groups posing as Biafra agitators, until the deadly attack on Sunday night.
The incident reportedly occurred along the Awa-Ndiukwuenu-Ufuma Road, where the assailants allegedly ambushed police officers on patrol and opened fire, leaving two officers dead on the roadway.
A tricycle operator who witnessed the incident said he was travelling along the road when he suddenly heard gunshots ahead, forcing him to abandon his tricycle and flee into nearby bushes for safety.
In a voice note shared after the incident, the eyewitness said he later returned to the scene and discovered two police officers lying on the road beside their patrol vehicle.
He said, “After some time, I came out of hiding, retrieved my tricycle and continued my journey. When I got to the scene, I saw two policemen lying on the road, with their patrol van parked by the roadside.
“I decided to record this message because I believe one of the officers may still be alive. Anyone who can reach the police authorities should alert them so they can rescue their men.”
Efforts to get a reaction from the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, were unsuccessful, as his phone line could not be reached.
As of the time of filing this report, the police command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
