BREAKING: COURT ORDERS DE-REGISTRATION ADC, FOUR OTHER PARTIES
By ‘Sefiu Ajape

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties for failing to meet constitutional requirements for political parties in Nigeria.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, the court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the affected parties after finding that they failed to secure 25 per cent of the votes in the last general elections, as required by law.
The parties affected by the ruling are ADC, Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Justice Lifu, who dismissed the preliminary objections filed by the defendants, further ordered INEC not to allow the parties to participate in future elections, including the 2027 general elections, on the grounds that they failed to meet the constitutional threshold.
