Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Lawal said his decision to leave the party was prompted by the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate, insisting that President Bola Tinubu remains a better option than the former vice president.
According to him, the ADC presidential primary was manipulated in Atiku’s favour.
The former SGF maintained that he would not be part of what he described as Atiku’s “rigging machine” ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He also accused the former vice president of incompetence, describing him as a tribal and religious bigot who, in his view, should not be allowed anywhere near the presidency.
