CHURCH MEMBER ALLEGEDLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL, COURT HEARS

The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday heard how a church member, Ilesanmi Adekunle, allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
The survivor, whose name is withheld, gave the testimony before Justice Rahman Oshodi while being led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, B.E. Okeowo.
Adekunle was represented by his counsel, A.D. Olaniyi.
Testifying before the court, the survivor, now 17, said she was a Senior Secondary School 3 student when the alleged incident occurred in 2024.
She told the court that the alleged assault occurred on three different occasions, with the first incident taking place in July 2024 when she was 15.
The witness identified Adekunle as a fellow church member and alleged that he sexually assaulted her at his residence.
She said her grandparents had travelled overseas and had asked her and her brother to help look after their house.
According to her, in July 2024, her mother gave her money to deliver to Adekunle, prompting her to visit his residence with her brother.
The survivor alleged that Adekunle sent her brother home and asked her to remain behind.
She told the court that after her brother left, Adekunle allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The witness said the matter later came to light after her grandmother allegedly saw her peeping through the defendant’s toilet window.
She said her grandmother took her into a room and asked her to explain what had happened, but she initially denied knowing anything.
According to the survivor, her grandmother subsequently took her to a hospital, where she was examined by a doctor, before she was taken to the police station to make a statement.
The court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
