DANGOTE FUEL PRICE HIKE: MRS FILLING STATIONS SHUT FOR SEVEN DAYS

MRS filling stations, a major retail partner of Dangote Refinery, have remained without Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) supplies for at least seven days following the recent increase in petrol prices.
Checks by the media showed that several MRS outlets in Abuja and its environs have been out of petrol since July 17, 2026.
A manager at one of the filling stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development on Friday, expressing optimism that supplies would resume following Dangote Refinery’s decision to restart petrol sales in naira.
“We have not had fuel supply since last Thursday. However, we hope to get supply today (Friday) following the resumption of Dangote Refinery’s gantry sales in naira,” the manager said.
Dangote Refinery had suspended petrol sales in naira on July 15 before resuming them on Thursday at ₦1,215 per litre, up from ₦1,175 per litre.
The refinery’s return to naira-denominated sales has helped ease uncertainty in the downstream petroleum sector, although marketers and depot owners have adjusted petrol prices upward at least twice within the past week.
Petrol currently sells for between ₦1,300 and ₦1,340 per litre at filling stations across parts of Abuja.
