The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,480 operatives across the state’s 16 local government areas to maintain security and ensure peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

According to a statement issued in Ilorin by the command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Michael, the deployment was approved by State Commandant Abbas Mohammed as part of strengthened efforts to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure before, during, and after the festivities.

The operation, described as intelligence-led, has seen personnel stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, public spaces, and other strategic locations across the state.

The commandant explained that the deployment is a proactive measure aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free celebration.

He noted that the operatives were drawn from specialised units, including the Armed Squad, Operation Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Unit.

He further directed area commanders and divisional officers to intensify surveillance, maintain continuous patrols, and respond swiftly to any security threats within their jurisdictions.

The command also pledged collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and vigilante groups to sustain law and order during the festive period.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and celebrate responsibly, as the command reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout Eid-el-Kabir.
