EKITI 2026: INEC UPLOADS 85% OF ELECTION RESULTS TO IREV

The Independent National Electoral Commission had uploaded results from 2,048 of the 2,445 polling units to its Result Viewing Portal as of 6:41pm on Saturday, accounting for 83.7 per cent of the total expected results in the Ekiti State governorship election.

The latest update marks a sharp increase from the 35.5 per cent recorded just 30 minutes earlier at 6:12pm.

A total of 14 candidates are participating in the off-cycle governorship election, with incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress seeking re-election ahead of the expiration of his first term in October.

His principal challengers include Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress, Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party, and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Other contenders are Samuel Akande (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo (ADP), Opeyemi Felegan (Accord), Joseph Anifowose (APM), Bidemi Awogbemi (APP), Olaniyi Ayodele (PRP) and Victor Adetunji (ZLP).

Results are still being transmitted to the portal as collation continues across the state
