EKITI DECLARES OCTOBER 5 WORK-FREE DAY FOR TEACHERS TO MARK WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

The Ekiti State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to enable them participate fully in activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, explaining that the decision was aimed at giving teachers the opportunity to join colleagues and other stakeholders in celebrating the annual event and recognising their important contributions to the education sector.
Consequently, all day students in public schools across the state are expected to stay at home on Monday, October 5.
The Commissioner urged parents, guardians, school authorities and students to take note of the arrangement and make the necessary preparations.
Aderiye commended teachers across Ekiti for their dedication, professionalism and continued commitment to nurturing young minds and strengthening the state’s education system.
She also congratulated teachers on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day and assured them of the state government’s continued recognition, support and appreciation for their contributions to education and the future of Ekiti children.
