Former England striker Emile Heskey has backed Manchester City to reclaim the Premier League title next season, even if manager Pep Guardiola leaves the club.
Heskey also predicted the teams he expects to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season.
Speaking to Hajper, as reported by Metro, Heskey expressed confidence in Manchester City’s prospects, saying the club would be strong enough to win the title regardless of Guardiola’s future.
According to him, City’s current squad is showing promising signs and is likely to become even stronger and more cohesive next season.
Heskey suggested Guardiola could step away from football after the campaign, having achieved significant success during his time at the Etihad Stadium. He said the Spaniard may choose to spend more time with his family and take a break from the game, similar to the one he took after leaving Barcelona.
For his predicted top four, Heskey tipped Manchester City to finish first, followed by Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. He also forecast Aston Villa to place fifth and Newcastle United sixth.
His comments come after Arsenal secured the Premier League title this season ahead of Manchester City.
