RAPPER CDQ: IT IS DIFFICULT TO SUCCEED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WITHOUT BEING PART OF A CAMP

Popular rapper CDQ has alleged that powerful cabals and gang-like groups wield significant influence within Nigeria’s music industry.
Speaking during a recent interview with content creator JBrandy, the ‘Nowo Soke’ hitmaker claimed that it is often challenging for artists who are not affiliated with any influential camp or group to achieve success in the industry.
According to CDQ, musicians who attain fame and recognition without aligning themselves with such networks are fortunate and should be thankful for their achievements.
He argued that the industry has evolved into a system where belonging to a particular circle or faction can determine the level of support and opportunities available to an artist.
The rapper further suggested that artists who operate independently may invest substantial resources into their careers without seeing corresponding results.
CDQ, however, urged artists, record label executives and other stakeholders to discourage the culture of linking gangsterism and group affiliations with success in the music business, stressing the need for a more inclusive and merit-driven industry.
