FAYOSE CLAIMS OYO ABDUCTION MAY HAVE BEEN ORCHESTRATED TO DISCREDIT TINUBU

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that the Oyo State Government orchestrated the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of the state in an attempt to embarrass President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fayose made the controversial claim while speaking on a televised programme, where he questioned the handling of the incident by the state government and suggested that political considerations may have influenced its response.
His comments follow the kidnapping of pupils and teachers by gunmen in parts of Oyo State on Friday, an incident that triggered nationwide concern and prompted a federal response, including the deployment of a high-level delegation by the presidency.
President Tinubu had also directed security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and restore calm in the affected communities.
According to Fayose, state governments have primary responsibility for addressing local security challenges due to their control of security votes and presence of administrative structures at the grassroots.
He argued that the Oyo State Government did not act swiftly enough in response to the abduction, alleging that political activities were prioritised over urgent security concerns.
“In Oyo State, I strongly believe though I might be wrong, but this sometimes might be orchestrated,” Fayose said during the interview.
He further claimed that the timing of the incident raised suspicion, suggesting it may have been politically motivated to discredit the Federal Government.
“I sometimes believe that the abduction at Oyo School was orchestrated by the Oyo State Government to blackmail President Tinubu,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not issued an official response to the allegations.
The incident continues to generate widespread reactions, with stakeholders calling for stronger security measures to protect schools and prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.
