FCT POLICE APPREHEND SUSPECT, RECOVER PISTOL, AMMUNITION

On October 25, 2026, around 1:50 p.m., Kubwa Police Division received a call about a man with a gun firing shots into the air at a market in Kubwa, Abuja. The man was not identified.
Police officers from Kubwa Division quickly arrived at the scene. They worked together to stop the man, who was then disarmed and taken into custody.
Initial checks showed that the man was Onoja Samuel, a Deputy Superintendent of Corps with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). It was found out that he went to the market with a gun after some traders had hurt his wife. During a disagreement with the traders, he shot several rounds into the air.
When he was arrested, a CZ pistol and seventeen live 9mm bullets were found on him. He is now in police custody and will be taken to court after the investigation is done.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi PhD. FCAI., has asked other security agencies to be careful and to inform the local police divisions before doing any planned operations in the Federal Capital Territory. This is to make sure things go smoothly and avoid any unnecessary conflicts.
